Mt. Zion council back at full strength – Times-Georgian: News

For the first time in six months, the Mt. Zion City Council had all four seats filled at the meeting table Tuesday night. However, the agenda had few items for the full governing body to tackle.

Mayor Randy Sims said he has been postponing any city business until the council was at full staff and beyond any 2-2 tie votes, which had gridlocked past meetings. The mayor also votes on council decisions, so the odd number at the table prevents tie votes.

“We’re going to hold a June 27 work session at 7 p.m., to discuss business items so we can be ready for the July 9 meeting,” Sims said.

The newest council member is Eric Robinson, 38, an AT&T electronics technician, who was administered the oath of office for the Post 1 council seat by Superior Court Judge Bill Hamrick at the county courthouse Tuesday afternoon, just four hours before Tuesday’s meeting.
