Isakson, Chambliss vote to move immigration reform bill to… | Political Insider | www.ajc.com

Johnny Isakson joined his Georgia colleague Saxby Chambliss this afternoon in support of moving the bipartisan immigration reform bill to the Senate floor for debate.

The final tally on the final immigration motion to proceed: an overwhelming 82-15, but GOP support remains very shaky.

Chambliss, who doesn’t face re-election, had indicated late last night that he would cast a “yes” vote. But Isakson had kept his cards close.

In an interview with my WSB Radio colleague Jamie Dupree, who kindly sent on the sound, Isakson pointed out that he’s not sure how he’ll vote on the bill itself. Said Isakson:

“Somebody’s told me there may be 600 amendments filed. I don’t know how many are going to be filed. I’m a part of some. As always, it’s going to depend on what the end product is.
