The Jones County Commission is contemplating firing its top administrators, and it could do so Tuesday.
Commissioners have called a meeting for 4 p.m. to discuss personnel and the budget.
According to the commission’s minutes from a meeting Thursday, Commissioner Tommy Robinson said that three of five board members “strongly suggested” that the board should fire County Administrator Michael D. Underwood, Assistant Administrator Margie Tyson and Human Resources Director Jill Thompson, who has since resigned.
According to the minutes, Robinson said the reason discussed for the terminations included “rumors, innuendos and insults and chaos at the Government Center.”
Robinson told The Telegraph on Monday that he didn’t see any reason to fire them, but he said some of the claims against them stemmed from anonymous comments left in a suggestion box.
