Being fined for “being the crazy cat lady” a week before the election probably doesn’t help her chances.

WARNER ROBINS — Mayoral candidate Eva Folse owes the city of Warner Robins $3,000 in fines and restitution.

After a four-hour hearing Tuesday, Folse was found guilty of having too many cats in a home she owns, according to Municipal Court Clerk William Childs.

Childs said Judge G.E. “Bo” Adams found Folse guilty of violating the city’s animal care ordinance 10 times over, as well as the animal limit and removal of waste ordinances. She was also found guilty of interfering with an animal control officer, but not guilty of a rabies inoculation charge.

In May, an animal control officer seized 11 cats from a rental home that Folse owns and issued her 31 citations. They included a charge resulting from one of the cats running away after Folse was seen touching a cage.

On Wednesday, Folse was placed on probation for two years and may not own any cats during that time, Childs said. Cats taken from her home earlier this year will remain at the shelter.

Folse owes restitution on medical and housing costs. Childs said a final cost has not been calculated.
