Tolleson cruises to victory in state Senate race | Elections | Macon.com

For the sixth time, Middle Georgia voters are sending state Sen. Ross Tolleson back to the state Legislature.

Tolleson, R-Perry, comfortably bested Democratic challenger Sheikh Rahman, of Dublin, with some 70 percent of the votes as counting drew to a close in the Georgia Senate District 20 race. Tolleson received 32,692 votes to Rahman’s 13,867 votes with all counties reporting.

“We’re excited,” said Tolleson, reached by phone as votes piled up in his favor. He said he’s looking forward to two more years in Atlanta.

It’s the first time since 2004 a Democrat has challenged Tolleson.
