Cherokee County School District officials are waiting to see whether any action will be taken by the district’s accrediting organization regarding the complaint submitted by Post 1 Board Member Kelly Marlow.
In an e-mail last week, Board Chairman Janet Read sent a request to Southern Association of College and Schools/Committee on School Improvement (SACS/CASI, also known as AdvancED) officials, asking about the status of the June 11 complaint. Copies of the complaint were distributed to board members at the end of the June 13 school board meeting.
SACS Director Mike Bryans responded to Read, saying that correspondence regarding to complainants is not released, but the complaint has been received and will be reviewed.
“Until the complaint is reviewed, a determination will not be made regarding actions, if any, by our organization,” Bryans told Read in an e-mail obtained through the Open Records Act. “Once a determination is made regarding how the complaint will be handled, AdvancEd will communicate directly with the Superintendent (Dr. Frank Petruzielo).”
