Loudermilk Resigns From State Senate | Georgia Public Broadcasting

ATLANTA (AP) — Loudermilk has served in Georgia’s Legislature since he was elected to the state House in 2004.

Georgia state Sen. Barry Loudermilk has announced he’s resigning from his position to focus on pursuing a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Loudermilk, of Cassville, made the announcement in a release Tuesday.

He announced plans in April to run for Georgia’s 11th District congressional seat being vacated by Rep. Phil Gingrey. Gingrey is leaving his position to try succeeding U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, who is retiring.
