Cherokee Tribune – Cantrell looking forward to representing District 22

[State Representative Elect Wes] Cantrell said his No. 1 priority will be working toward legislation that will begin the process of implementing term limits for all state legislators.

“This is a popular issue with the people but not with most legislators. It’s time for Georgia to reclaim her citizen-led Legislature,” Cantrell said. “This will be a difficult process, but I am determined to do everything in my power and to work with others to see this happen. Our governor is term-limited. Thank goodness our current president is term-limited. State legislators should be term-limited.”

In addition, Cantrell said the most important issues to him are education, taxes, transportation and Obamacare.

“We need effective education reforms that expand the opportunity for parents to have a greater role in choosing the best options for their children,” he said in explaining why education was one of the most important topics for him.

Cantrell said, when it comes to taxes, “we need tax reform to abolish the state income tax and replace it with the Fair Tax.”

He said transportation issues should be dealt with using a “common sense approach and local input.”

When it came to Obamacare, he said “we must nullify this irresponsible law and protect Georgians from its harmful effects.”
