The Ogeechee Riverkeeper can move forward with key parts of its Clean Water Act complaint against textile processor King America Finishing, a judge has ruled.
In an order issued Wednesday, U.S. District Court Chief Judge Lisa Godbey Wood ruled the case can proceed on four issues crucial to the Ogeechee Riverkeeper: formaldehyde, ammonia, color and pH.
King America Finishing had sought to have the whole case, which was filed in July, dismissed.
Emily Markesteyn, executive director of Ogeechee Riverkeeper, said the order kept alive the lawsuit, which she called “the only hope that the river’s going to be protected and restored in the right manner.”
