Adoptable (Official) Georgia Dogs for September 24, 2024

May is a 10-month old female Labrador Retriever and Black Mouth Cur mix puppy who is available for adoption from the Charles Smithgall Humane Society and Adoption Center in Sautee Nacoochee, GA.

This beautiful young girl came in on our recent freedom ride. She is one of five dogs we pulled from a high kill shelter, all on the euth list. This beauty is only 10 months old! She has her whole life ahead of her. May is a fun, energetic, silly, out-going, affectionate, curious, athletic and friendly pup. She looks to be a lab/ hound mix or maybe a lab/black mouth cur mix. She is such a great dog.

May loves meeting people and she loves other dogs. She is energetic and has a happy demeanor. Everything is fun for May. She does well on a leash but may need a little gentle guidance. No biggie for a smart and eager to please young pup. May has a gorgeous silky soft camel colored coat, warm brown eyes and a sweet face. May loves to play. She’d be a great hiking dog or runabout companion. She has a confident and steady demeanor. She’s a great dog that you could take places with you. If you’re looking for a great family dog and your best friend, May could be the one for you.

Reba is a young female Hound and German Shepherd Dog mix who is available for adoption from the Charles Smithgall Humane Society and Adoption Center in Sautee Nacoochee, GA.

We rescued gorgeous Reba from a high-kill shelter. This girl is such a keeper! She is at the top of our sweetest dogs list! She is a lovely and charming pup. Reba is about seven years old and looks to have some fox hound or maybe some beagle in her. She is sweet and affectionate, and very confident. As she has settled in with us, she has found her hound voice! She loves people and will most likely be great with kiddos as well. She gives slow motion hugs and doggie kisses. She loves other dogs and we’ll test for kitties. Reba is full of energy and loves to walk. When she was getting her glamour shots taken, she wanted to go for a car ride with our photographer. She loves car rides!

Most likely Reba found herself at a kill shelter and was overlooked by adopters because of her heartworms. Heartworms are easily prevented. But once contracted the treatment is expensive and so many good dogs end up being euthanized because of them. Having met Reba, we can’t see any other reason why this beautiful young dog would be at risk. She has wonderful manners, she’s great with everyone she meets, she loves other dogs, and she has a bright and sunny personality. She even seems house-trained. We’ll get Reba’s heartworms treated and we’ll work with her adopter through treatment if she’s adopted before her treatment ends. For the near future, Reba is relegated to leash walks and quiet strolls, which she enjoys immensely. She enjoys exploring and everything is so much fun. Her energy and optimism are contagious.
If looking for a great family companion, Reba is a gem!

Boscoe is an adult male Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler and Husky mix who is available for adoption from the Charles Smithgall Humane Society and Adoption Center in Sautee Nacoochee, GA.

Handsome Boscoe is a wonderful young dog at just over three years old. Boscoe was fostered early on and we’ve been looking for his furever home. Boscoe is thought to be an Australian Cattle dog/Husky/Chi mix. He weighs only 51 lbs. He is smaller in size than his pictures look. His fosters spent a good amount of time with him, showing him love and kindness and doing some basic training with him. As a result of their love, Boscoe is super sweet and affectionate. He is very friendly with a great temperament. He loves being with people. He is mostly house-trained but may need some reminders once in a stable home. He is energetic and will do best with an active person or family. He loves running in the play yards. A fence will be necessary for him to run and play safely. He enjoys car rides and walks well on a leash. Boscoe will make for a fantastic running buddy or hiking partner. Sadly, he’s resigning himself to the shelter. It’s not the best environment for one so sensitive and happy-go-lucky. We think he struggles around other dogs, but it could just be the noisy environment. Boscoe is a gem. If interested in welcoming a handsome and great dog to your heart and home, Boscoe may be the one.
