Adoptable Georgia Dogs for November 20, 2013

For Chevy, getting off that horrible short chain outside may be a case of “out of the frying pan, into the fire,” as he has landed at Clayton County Animal Control. Luckily for him, the county has a stellar group of volunteers who have helped dramatically lower the euthanasia rate simply by caring and sharing the dogs on Facebook. In fact, through the efforts of Partners with Clayton County Animal Control and the shelter staff, yesterday was another “no kill” day.

Chevy is a male Pit Bull mix who is very sweet and submissive. I think he deserves a chance at a happy life with a family of his own. He is available for adoption from the Clayton County Animal Shelter. You may also donate online to the fundraiser setup to help defray his veterinary costs if a rescue group steps up for Chevy – this is another way Partners helps dogs find homes.

Marvel Freedom Ride

Marvel, whom we featured earlier this week, got her freedom ride this week, literally dodging euthanasia for the second time. She will be available for adoption through Angels Among Us, and you can download an adoption application from the group’s website.

Champion Clayton

Champion is a black, male Shepherd mix whose family cannot keep him and will turn him in to Clayton County Animal Shelter on Friday. The sad truth that many families who turn in dogs to a local animal control aren’t told is that these dogs are the first in line to be euthanized, because there is no mandatory hold time for owner surrenders. If you are interested in adopting or fostering Champion, whose family says he is up-to-date on shots, though not neutered, and a sweet dog who gets along with children, contact Partners with Clayton County Animal Control and ask them how to help this guy.
