Adoptable Georgia Dogs for January 14, 2014

Taz has been described as a Collie/Chow mix by his current guardians, but they say that’s just a wild guess. He looks to me to be part Flat-Coated Retriever. Taz has been taken in by a generous family because one of his owners is terminally-ill and they have moved in with their children, leaving Taz looking for a new home.

Taz is about eight years old and has lived primarily as an outdoor dog, but currently stays inside. Taz also is sweet, intelligent, mostly obedient, and does well on a leash. His back legs were injured in the past, so he needs help getting in a car. He loves car rides and going on short walks. Taz has a mixed record with other dogs, getting along with some, not so much with others. He might prefer to be an only dog. He may not be awesome with kids, so an adult home is preferred. He is neutered, heartworm-negative, and up-to-date on his shots. If you’re interested in helping foster or adopt Taz, email me and I’ll put you in touch with his current fosters.taz3

Barrow Bear

“Bear” is a 1-2 year old Lab mix who is friendly and a little bit shy; he is not yet leash-trained, but friendly dogs can usually be trained to walk well on the leash. He is on tomorrow’s euthanasia list at Barrow County Animal Shelter unless he finds a foster or adoptive home who can pick him up by 4 PM today. If you want to help Bear and need logistical support, let me know.

The second Bear is a chocolate Lab, 6-8 years old, who is already neutered and waiting for his forever home at the Walton County Animal Shelter. His snout is a little crooked. He is about 75 pounds and heartworm positive, so he’ll need an owner or foster who can help him relax while he receives his heartworm meds. Bear is available for adoption from the Walton County Animal Shelter in Monroe, Ga, and he needs to get out of there as soon as possible.
