Adoptable (Official) Georgia Dogs for May 14, 2024

The Gwinnett County Animal Shelter is at capacity and needs foster homes for adoptable pets, according to AccessWDUN.

Gwinnett County’s Animal Welfare Center is again at critical capacity for dog and cat care, and is seeking homes for their adoptable pets in rapid fashion.

The Bill Atkinson Animal Welfare Center has more than 180 combined dogs, cats, puppies and kittens within their facility and needs to ease the strain on resources and staff.  To do this, Animal Welfare officials in Gwinnett are offering to waive adoption fees for those that are qualified.

Animal Welfare and Enforcement Division Director Katrina Amaro says in a press release, “Getting more animals into permanent adoptive homes or temporary foster placements is critical. Our largest animals, the big dogs, are always the hardest to find placement for.”

The animal welfare officials will also be covering the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations and microchips for all adopted pets.

The Bill Atkinson Animal Welfare Center is located at 884 Winder Highway in Lawrenceville. To learn more about adopting or fostering a shelter pet, visit GwinnettAnimalWelfare.com .
