MARIETTA — Cobb Elections Director Janine Eveler called Election Day in Cobb “a pretty smooth day,” as of Tuesday afternoon.
“There have been some lines, but not because of issues, just because there’s a lot of interest in these races, so people are coming out, and it’s a nice day,” she said.
Eveler said she received reports of a 20-person line at the South Cobb Community Center as well as a similar line at the polling place on the campus of Kennesaw State University.
“Because people haven’t had a big election in a while they forget that there are going to be lines,” Eveler said. “They’re used to just walking right in and having the poll workers pounce on them because they have nothing else to do. This is a big federal and state election, and there are some tight races, so people are really interested in this one.”
