The Marietta Daily Journal – Voters say Senate race important

MARIETTA — Voters leaving the polls in Cobb County today told the Marietta Daily Journal they thought the U.S. Senate race was the most important race in the General Election.

Three voters at the Marietta High School precinct who spoke to the MDJ cast their ballots for different Senate candidates.

Rick Martin, an engineer who lives in Marietta, said he thinks it’s time for a change.

“I voted for (David) Perdue because I lean more Republican with my values,” said Martin, 60.

Catherine Smith, a surgical nurse, said she voted for Democrat Michelle Nunn. The 42-year-old Marietta resident said she was “not all that excited about just how angry the Republicans sound.”

“I just like the way Democrats have an actual plan for moving things forward and not trying to move things backward,” Smith said. “A lot of Republicans seem to want to be in charge so they can undo everything Obama has done. I don’t hear a lot of what they are going to do, it’s just what they want to change. That doesn’t sound like a great plan to me.”
