Former Forsyth Councilmen James Edward Calloway and Desi Surtane Hansford are scheduled to be sentenced at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Middle Georgia District Court in Macon before Judge Marc Thomas Treadwell.

Each pleaded guilty Sept. 3 to one charge of accepting a bribe during the performance of their official duties. The maximum sentence is 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

Calloway served on the council for 22 years, while Hansford served five years. Prosecutors say Calloway solicited a $20,000 bribe about a year ago from a water and waste treatment company to guarantee the company a city contract.
