Rep. Rick Allen Reacts to State of the Union Address

I’m just getting back after watching to the State of the Union and, as I expected, it left a lot to be desired.

I had hoped the President would discuss how he would work with Congress on solutions that empower all Americans through more opportunities and a strong economy. But what we heard was more of what we’ve seen for the last six years – failed policies that grow government, not our economy.

Policies such as President Obama’s “Robin Hood” tax plan or opposition to the Keystone XL pipeline will not help create jobs or foster an environment that relieves the middle class squeeze.  Taking from one person and giving to another is not the solution we need.

Good-paying jobs, empowering hardworking Americans and getting Washington out of the way builds a stronger economy and creates opportunities for middle class families.

That is what America’s New Congress will fight for in the coming months.

Georgians in the 12th district sent me to Congress to solve the problems impacting them and get our country on the right track.  I’m ready to get to work.
