VanGundy responds to rumors in race for Georgia Republican Party Chair

Press Release

BJ Van Gundy, candidate for State GOP Chairman, Responds to Opponent Smear Attempt – Before it’s Attempted

(Peachtree Corners – GA) – America is facing dire circumstances. Government spending is spiraling out of control, our conservative principles are under attack, and our Constitutional rights are being assaulted. This is why I am running for Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party, to make a difference in our future.

But despite all of the important issues we are facing that should be the topics of conversation during a State Chairman’s race, an operative apparently working for one of my opponents has discovered something about me that they consider ‘political dirt’ on me due to some political contributions.

In one case, I contributed money to a close friend of mine who happens to live in a solid Democrat district in DeKalb County, and had no Republican opponents. In the other cases, contributions were made to a couple of DeKalb County Commissioners through, and on behalf of, my business, which is focused in the arena of providing process improvement and efficiency services.

It is most unfortunate that instead of providing ideas or suggestions for improving the Party, there are those who decide that smear tactics are the path to victory in the race. I thought I would go ahead and set the record straight, and let you know that I will not participate in smearing my opponents. I am a believer in “The Eleventh Commandment.”

I’m running for State GOP Chairman to work to build up the Party and make sure that the future of the GOP in Georgia is solidified. My campaign is about a positive message that consists of 3 primary objectives: enhance our technologies used in campaigning, increase the involvement of the Grassroots and Local Party in State Party decisions, and adapt the GOP’s messaging to show that the GOP is the Great Opportunity Party.

BJ Van Gundy is a long time GOP activist who has held several leadership positions within the Republican Party including 4 years as Gwinnett County Chairman, 6 years as a District Chairman and is currently in his 4th year as 2nd Vice Chairman of the State GOP. He lives in Peachtree Corners with his wife Christy and 4 children, Whitney, Avery, Cardin and Reagan.
