The Marietta Daily Journal – Cobb Marietta top state nation on ACT average

MARIETTA — While Cobb and Marietta high school students taking the ACT did outperform the national and state averages this year, only Marietta improved its average score in 2013.

According to the districts, Cobb’s composite score was 22.1, down from 22.2 in 2012, and Marietta’s was 21.3 up from 21.0 last year. The state average for this year is 20.7, and the national average is 20.9.

In Cobb, 3,651 students, or 80 more than in 2012, were tested and at Marietta High School 170 students took the exam, 11 fewer students than in 2012.
