Secretary Kemp Reminds Georgians of Options for Reporting Suspected Voter Registration Fraud

Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp reminds Georgians many options exist when it comes to voter registration.  We have received reports of voter registration drives where personal data is obtained that could possibly be used for identity theft.

Please be aware of the following:

  • Never give personal information to anyone over the phone who claims to be running a voter registration drive.
  • You do not have to provide an email address in order to register to vote.
  • You do not have to provide a phone number in order to register to vote.
  • You do not have to provide a full social security number in order to register to vote.

Georgians with an ID issued by the Department of Driver Services now have the ability to register to vote or update their information online through the Online Voter Registration System (OLVR) at www.sos.ga.gov.  The process is safe and secure.

Georgia voters can also download the new “My Voter Page” (MVP) app on their Apple or Android device, where they can view their specific sample ballot, find their early voting and election day polling locations, check voter registration status and track the status of their absentee ballot.    You can also register to vote and update voter information on the app as well.  Just search for “GA Votes” in the app store.

If you do suspect any sort of fraud, please visit the “Stop Voter Fraud” portion of the website at www.sos.ga.gov or call the Stop Voter Fraud hotline at 1-877-725-9797.

The deadline for voter registration for the General Election is October 6, 2014.

Brian Kemp has been Secretary of State since January 2010. Among the offices wide-ranging responsibilities, the Secretary of State is charged with conducting secure, accessible and fair elections, the registration of corporations, and the regulation of securities and professional license holders.
