RN-T.com – Filled post cancels Plainville elections

Qualifying ended on Wednesday, September 18 at noon for the special election that was called for the City of Plainville and City of Fairmount. The City of Plainville called for a special election because no one qualified in August to run for City Council Post 3.

At the close of qualifying on Wednesday, James R. Miller was the only candidate that qualified to run for City Council Post 3. According to Shea Hicks, the Municipal Election Superintendent, the City of Plainville will not be required to hold a Municipal General Election on November 5.

According to GA Election Code when a candidate has qualified for office and is unopposed then the election is canceled, because the unopposed candidate shall be deemed to have voted or himself.
