RN-T.com – Early in person voting starts Monday in advance of Nov 5 vote

Voting machines sat in boxes last week on the floor of the Floyd County elections office.

The boxes formed a line against a counter as Evon Billups, the office’s supervisor, shuffled through paper ballots.

“We’re getting ready,” Billups said.

Billups and her staff were preparing for the start of early voting, which begins Monday. Voters have several issues to decide:

Rome residents have three City Commission spots on the ballot and seven school board members.

City, county and Cave Spring residents will vote on the Sunday sale of alcohol in stores and restaurants in unincorporated areas. They’ll also decide on a $65 million special purpose, local option sales tax and an $80 million education local option sales tax.

Cave Spring voters will also choose three council members, though one of the seats is uncontested.

Rome and Floyd County voters who want to cast their ballots before Nov. 5 can visit the second floor of the Floyd County Administration Building, 12 E. Fourth Ave., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Voting machines again will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 21-25 at the downtown administration building.

Voters have two places to cast ballots 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 28-Nov. 1: the downtown administration building and the Rome Civic Center, 400 Civic Center Drive.
