RIP: Rick Richardson

First, a personal note:

Rick Richardson was the embodiment of what it means to be a good and loyal Republican. When I got active in the GOP in 1986, Rick was one of the first people I got to know – he was already there leading the way as a Young Republican. Many hours were spent on the GOP trail with Rick. I have rarely seen a person as humble and hard working as Rick Richardson. He was always there because he had to be – for Rick Richardson is part of the DNA of the modern Georgia Republican Party. Rick was here before we had a statewide elected official, before the 1994 Revolution, and before we won control of state government. Every single elected official owes Rick Richardson thanks because Rick Richardson paved the way.

He was a good man and a proud Republican. He touched lives across the GOP. All of us who had the pleasure to know Rick are the better for it. He will be missed but never forgotten.

CHAIRMAN: OUR DEAR FRIEND RICK RICHARDSON WILL BE SORELY MISSED

The Georgia Republican Party grieves the loss of longtime employee and conservative activist, Rick Richardson. The former County and District Chairman, Richardson, 57, was hired by the GAGOP in June of 1998 where he served diligently and faithfully under numerous Republican leaders.

“Georgia Republicans mourn the loss today of Rick Richardson,” said Georgia Republican Party Chairman John Padgett. “From DeKalb County leadership to District Chairman, campaign volunteer to trusted employee of the Georgia Republican Party, Rick’s life work was to build a stronger, more dynamic Party while advancing common sense, conservative principles.

“A trusted friend and confidant, Rick was the glue that held the State Party together. As employees and Chairmen came and went, Rick was steadfast. His commitment was contagious. Rick’s jovial spirit endured during good times and bad. His work ethic was unmatched. Our dear friend Rick will be sorely missed.

“The State Party extends our deepest regrets to Rick’s family and friends. We consider ourselves blessed to have known Rick and have the utmost confidence that his legacy of service will live on for many years to come.”

Rick passed away after suffering a massive stroke. At the time of his death, he was surrounded by close family and friends.
