President Pro Tempore David Shafer Named a Recipient of the NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award

President Pro Tempore David Shafer (R – Duluth) has been presented with the Guardian of Small Business Award by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), Georgia’s leading small-business association.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, both nationally and here in Georgia,” Sen. Shafer said.  “I have worked to help create an environment in Georgia where businesses of all sizes flourish, putting Georgians to work.”

The Guardian of Small Business Award is the most prestigious honor that NFIB bestows on legislators in recognition of their efforts to support small business issues. The NFIB of Georgia Leadership Council voted to present this award to President Pro Temp. David Shafer for his continuous support of small business issues in the General Assembly.

“Senator Shafer is a true friend of small business,” said NFIB State Director, Kyle Jackson. “He has been a vocal and reliable supporter of Georgia’s entrepreneurs and was primary sponsor of the recently-passed “Amendment A” to protect and guard against future income tax increases on small employers.  David Shafer understands the needs of local business and the necessity of reducing the government’s role in their lives and the importance business plays in creating jobs.  On behalf of all small businesses in Georgia, NFIB would like to thank Senator Shafer for his hard work and dedication to our state’s entrepreneurs.”

NFIB is a nonpartisan, nonprofit association which was founded in 1943 and is headquartered in Nashville, Tenn. NFIB represents 350,000 small and independent business owners across the nation and making it America’s leading small-business advocacy association.
