Dear Colleagues in the Georgia House Majority Caucus:
It has been an honor to be elected three times by you as your Majority Whip. Simply put, I have had a blast working with you.
We have accomplished a great deal together in this period of time: balancing the budget in tough economic times by cutting spending; cracking down on illegal immigration; offering free market alternatives to Obamacare; enhancing economic development; tax reform; expanding school choice; passing sweeping Pro-Life legislation; strengthening ethics laws; improving Georgia’s water supply; successfully completing decennial redistricting with maps that are constitutional, legal, and fair; getting tough on Human Trafficking; getting smart on the criminal justice system; and much more.
However, with my campaign for Congress moving into higher gear, all good things must come to an end, and for the good of the caucus I believe that it is time for me to put into motion the selection of a successor to serve you as Majority Whip in the 2014 session. Therefore, I am tendering my resignation to you to be effective upon the election of a new Majority Whip.
I have spoken to the Speaker and other members of our House Leadership and they are working on the best time to conduct the election early this fall.
I will, of course, continue to serve out my term serving my constituents, and I look forward to working with everyone on advancing our conservative Republican agenda in the coming session.
