ATLANTA — After being closed for almost two years, the red snapper season will open again.
At midnight on Aug. 23, the red snapper fishing season begins for recreational fishing and closes on Aug. 26 at midnight. During the recreational season, the bag limit is one fish per person each day. There is no minimum size limit for the fish.
After the recreational season ends, the commercial season begins on Aug. 26 at midnight and ends when the annual catch limit is met. The daily trip limit is 75 pounds gutted weight, and there is no minimum size limit.
Only those with a commercial fishing license can sell a catch to a dealer or store.
Recreational fishing is when a person fishes for fun or personal consumption.
