Milledgeville man who posted school threat on Facebook sentenced to prison | Crime | Macon.com

A 33-year-old Milledgeville man has been sentenced to two years in prison for posting a threat on his Facebook page that involved shooting someone at a school.

Steven Michael Martin pleaded guilty to one count of terroristic threats Tuesday in Baldwin County Superior Court, said Steve Bradley, an Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit prosecutor.

On Aug. 9, 2012, Martin posted on his Face-book wall that he wanted to be famous. To achieve fame, he would walk into a school and shoot someone, Bradley said.

Someone saw the post and reported it to law enforcement officers, who investigated the threat.

After searching Martin’s home, authorities found no evidence that he was collecting weapons or planning an attack, Bradley said.

The Facebook post didn’t mention a specific school. All evidence pointed to the post being an isolated comment, but authorities still took it seriously, Bradley said.
