(Atlanta) — Former Secretary of State Karen Handel and Sea Island businessman David Perdue are tied within the margin of error in the Rosetta Stone Communications survey conducted on May 6, 2014. Perdue is garnering 23.1% of the vote to Karen Handel’s 21%. The survey of 729 pre-screened Republican primary voters was conducted on behalf of the Karen Handel campaign by Rosetta Stone Communications, LLC., in Atlanta, Georgia and has a margin of error of 3.6%.
David Perdue still maintains a lead with voters over the age of 65, but Karen Handel wins voters in the all important age group 40-64 by almost 3 points. Congressman Jack Kingston scores a distant third with just 15% of the primary vote.
“This survey is consistent with other poll results we have seen in the last 10 days,” said John Garst, President of Rosetta Stone Communications, “Karen Handel has been gaining ground steadily since late April and is now poised to take the number one spot heading into the July 22 run-off.”
Congressman Jack Kingston remains in third place – outside of the margin of error despite heavy spending by the Chamber of Commerce on his behalf in the metro Atlanta media market. Kingston’s own ads have become increasingly more folksy and blue collar – but have failed to move the numbers in this highly competitive primary. “Jack Kingston is just not connecting with voters,” said Garst, “Georgia voters are not buying the routine with the station wagon and the children with holes in their clothes.”
METHODOLOGY
Rosetta Stone Communications conducted this statewide poll on May 6, 2014 of 729 pre-screened Republican Primary voters in Georgia. Only voters who fully completed the survey were tabulated in the results. The results reflect only respondents who stated that they intend to vote in the 2014 Primary Election. The poll was conducted by telephone using IVR technology. The margin of error of the survey is 3.6%.
