Holley announces for U.S. Senate – The Cherokee Ledger-News: Weekly News

Former schoolteacher and current jewelry store owner/operator, Terry Holley, has announced he is running as an Independent candidate for the U.S. Senate seat that is being vacated by Saxby Chambliss. He will appear on the November 2014 ballot.

Holley, 59, is a resident of Evans who said he has chosen to run as an Independent because, “the two major political parties have lost the vision of America and do not connect with the working class of Americans as is evidenced by the type of legislation that is being passed.”

In the past, Holley said he has served as the chair of the Democratic Party of Columbia County; as a member of the Georgia Association of Democratic County Chairs; and as the 10th Congressional District Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, which included membership in the executive committee for the state party.

“This is a very important position that is going to be filled in the November (2014) election. It must be occupied by someone who knows how to help America regain its economic solvency, restore its trust in its elected leadership, and return it to its leadership role in the world,” Holley said. “I have named this campaign ‘America First’ as we address issues of jobs, the economy and global trauma.”
