A public meeting to discuss a proposed passenger rail service between Atlanta and Charlotte is scheduled for next week in Suwanee.
It’s part of three meetings scheduled in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina about the development of a Passenger Rail Corridor Investment Plan. The Suwanee meeting is the only one in the state and set for 4 p.m. on June 4 at Suwanee City Hall.
There is also an ongoing “virtual meeting” at the project web site www.dot.ga.gov/AtlantaCharlotteHSR.
The proposed service would be an extension of the Southeast High-Speed Rail Corridor that is under development between Charlotte and Washington, Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Teri Pope said.
