Gwinnett Daily Post | Suwanee makes magazine’s best towns list

SUWANEE — City residents say Suwanee is a great place to live. Another national magazine agrees.

Family Circle magazine listed the northern Gwinnett city in its 10 Best Towns For Families in the upcoming August issue.

“We’re thrilled and proud,” Mayor Jimmy Burnette said of the honor, the fourth national ranking for the city in the past six years. “Through our bi-annual National Citizens Survey, we know that 99 percent of our residents find Suwanee to be an excellent or good place to live. For Family Circle to confirm and share Suwanee’s high quality of life on a national scale is really rewarding.”

The magazine chose Suwanee using demographic information and family friendly criteria, including affordability of homes, quality of schools, access to health care, green space, low crime rate and financial stability. In the print edition, which hits newstands July 2, the magazine features the Chun family, who moved to Suwanee from Maryland in 2001.

Choosing from 3,335 towns between 10,000 and 150,000 in population, Suwanee was the smallest city featured on the list. It received a perfect 10 on the “great schools” ranking.
