Drought returns to more than half of Ga.; closing in on Hall Co. | AccessNorthGa

Drought conditions have returned to more than half of Georgia and are closing in on Hall County and others in the immediate Gainesville area.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, most of the affected counties are in central and South Georgia. Some in southern part of the state are experiencing a “severe drought.” For most of the state, though, including parts of north Georgia conditions are considered “abnormally dry.”

The counties in north Georgia where drought conditions exist include all or parts of Forsyth, Dawson, Lumpkin, Pickens, Gilmer, Cherokee, Stephens. Franklin and Elbert.
