County plans to hold tax rate at 8.5 mills – Times-Georgian: News

The Carroll County Board of Commissioners is expected to keep the county property tax millage rate at 8.5 mills this year, the same value as 2012.

The board will meet Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the county administration building to set the millage rate and to adopt 2013 homestead exemptions.

“Our goal is to keep the millage at 8.5 mills,” commission Chairman Marty Smith said Friday. “We have a balanced budget and have been able to maintain where we are right now.”

Tax millage rates are expected to remain the same for most county taxpayers, as the county Board of Education has indicated it will vote this week to keep its rate at 19.5 mills. Earlier this month, the city of Carrollton voted to leave its millage rate at 4.69 mills and the Carrollton Board of Education kept its 2012 rate of 19.19 mills.
