Cobb County will release detailed financial information before the end of this week about the Atlanta Braves stadium planned for the Cumberland Galleria area, Cobb Commission Chair Tim Lee said Tuesday.

“Some of the information that was put out yesterday from other news sources was inaccurate,” Lee said. “I just want to share with the public that when we bring forward this final document, it is my hope and my belief that the majority of folks will find that this is a win-win for Cobb County, a win-win for the Atlanta Braves and a win-win for the city of Atlanta and Fulton County as well.”

Lee spoke about the project at the regular meeting of the county commission, at which commissioners expressed nothing but excitement about the project. Lee said it will be a positive move for the county economically and will create many jobs.

“We understand it will bring with it some concerns regarding traffic, but we have a stellar team with Cobb County and we have the commitment of the state of Georgia to work with us to identify issues and solutions and come to resolve those the best we can so that this project can move forward with as minimal an impact to traffic as possible,” he said.

Citizens expressed concerns about police and taxes. Bill Mull, president of Cobb’s Fraternal Order of Police Chapter, said the current vacancies in public safety in the county are another issue that must be addressed before the new stadium is to open in 2017. Another county resident voiced her concerns about how the enormous project would affect taxpayers.
