City Council approves $300,000 cost increase for Coffee Bluff Marina project | savannahnow.com

A miniature-sized Savannah City Council sprinted through a 30-minute meeting Thursday in which they approved additional funding for a marina project and a land condemnation.

Mayor Pro Tem Van Johnson took charge in Mayor Edna Jackson’s absence during the meeting in which the five attending aldermen approved spending another $297,146 on the Coffee Bluff Marina reconstruction project.

Alderwomen Carolyn Bell, Mary Ellen Sprague and Estella Shabazz were also absent.

The additional funding for the marina project was needed to purchase 60-foot sheet piles instead of the 36-foot piles required by the contract, according to staff.
