Celebrating America from Barry Loudermilk for Congress

I write you on this 237th anniversary of America’s Declaration of Independence, on this day when we gather as families and friends, neighbors and colleagues, brothers and sisters united under a red, white and blue banner of freedom recognized around the world, and ask you to join me in celebrating not just this day, but the glory that is America.

Now approaching a quarter of a millennia ago, our Founding Fathers created a nation conceived not just in liberty, but in their courage and foresight which today still echoes across our great land.

Over-taxation. A fair and just legal system. Economic opportunity. Individual liberty. These are among the principle issues raised in our Declaration of Independence…

…and these are still chief among the issues we as Americans are facing today, only now our greatest obstacle is not a distant monarchy across the Atlantic, but a federal government which has grown in size and scope far beyond that which any of our Founding Fathers ever could have imagined.

Thomas Paine wrote, “Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must undergo the fatigue of supporting it.”

Whether serving my country in the Air Force, or serving my state in the legislature, I have always considered it my honor and my duty. And I have always been grateful to have the support of friends like you, standing beside me, each and every step of the way.

May you and yours have a happy, safe and blessed Independence Day, and may God continue to bless these United States of America.

For America,
