Bob Barr Launches Liberty Guard

Will Score Votes and Candidates

Former Congressman Bob Barr (R-GA, 1995-2003) today announced the launch of the next phase of Liberty Guard, with a vision to “make liberty work in the real world.”

Barr serves as Chairman of Liberty Guard.

“Liberty Guard is unique in that we will hold America’s leaders’ feet to the fire in defense of liberty and freedom. Sound bites are no longer good enough; we will educate America’s leaders on liberty, work with them to advance liberty, thank them when they advance liberty, and hold them accountable when they don’t,” said Barr.

“Liberty Guard is committed to the cause of liberty and to the concept of America as a free Republic governed pursuant to our Constitution. The dream that is “America” is not dead, and we at Liberty Guard will do everything we can to make sure it not only does not die, but flourishes in the real world,” said Barr. “To accomplish this, we will equip people to use technology to make their voices heard and impact the debate on issues in the political, cultural, and educational arenas,” Barr continued.

According to Steve Thomas, Liberty Guard Executive Director, Liberty Guard will do this in a number of ways, including:

* Congressional and State Legislative Scorecards: Liberty Guard will score key votes to hold elected officials accountable and to educate the public.

* Candidate Surveys: Liberty Guard candidate surveys will allow voters to know where candidates stand on issues important to liberty.

* Endorsing Legislation and Candidates: Liberty Guard will actively endorse both legislation and candidates supporting our values and the liberty agenda.

Liberty Guard also will engage in policy debate; appropriate legal actions; advancing pro-liberty legislation and policies, and opposing legislation that diminishes liberty.
