Adoptable Georgia Dogs for April 1, 2013

If you’d like to help rescue dogs but can’t have one (or another) in your home, it’s a good day to get out your credit or debit card and help the following dogs find new homes through rescue or adoption.

“Vann” (above) is a sweet male black-and-white lab mix who is waiting for his forever home in the Clayton County Animal Shelter. As a black dog, he faces long odds, as they are less likely to be adopted than dogs of other colors. He has a fundrazr page where you can donate to a fund that will be paid to a rescue organization who saves him to defray costs of vetting. Most rescue incur costs in the $300 and up neighborhood when pulling and vetting dogs.

“Tyson” (above) has just been brought in to the Clayton County Animal Shelter, but the volunteers say he’s a great dog. Donate here to help him find a forever home.

Dixie Dog Rescue is currently facing thousands of dollars in vet bills incurred on behalf of dogs they have saved. One of the problems rescues face is that they often end up saving healthy-looking dogs who turn out to need more extensive care than anticipated. In one recent case, Dixie Dog Rescue saved a beautiful young yellow lab who had two broken legs and was left on the roadside to die. [That dog is doing very well in her recovery – click here to see.]
