Adoptable Georgia Dogs for February 13, 2014

One issue you’re unlikely to hear about in the news reporting on the current winter storm is the effect it will have on shelter animals. What we’re hearing is that being closed for adoptions during the storm is exacerbating crowding in some public shelters, and that euthanasia is likely to be necessary for space. It’s a shame that any dog would be put down just to free up kennel space.

Rosebud is a 6-week old, female, mixed-breed puppy who is available for adoption at Clayton County Animal Shelter.

One of the ways the volunteers at Clayton County have helped reduce the euthanasia rate dramatically is by raising funds online that will follow the dog to a rescue group. When rescue groups have foster families, but are short on funds, a dog-specific fund that will help pay for vetting can often make the difference between life and death.

Calloway is a beautiful, adult male Hound Dog with a saddleback-patterned coat. He is available for adoption from the Clayton County Animal Shelter.

Flirt is a young adult female Pibble-mix who is sweet and submissive. One of the volunteers wrote that in the lower-left hand photo, Flirt seemed to be trying to hug her hand, and that Flirt is very sweet. She is available for adoption from the Clayton County Animal Shelter.
