Adoptable (Official) Georgia Dogs for December 7, 2021

A litter of abandoned puppies was found in Midway, Georgia, according to WSAV.

13 puppies were found dumped in the area of Jones Creek Park and Isle of Wight Road in Midway, according to Liberty County Animal Services.

[Liberty County Animal Services Director Steve] Marrero said the department sees animal abandonment almost daily, but it’s uncommon to see it with this many dogs.

Patricia Durham, owner of K9 Battle Buddies in Hinesville, said one question went through her mind when a witness called to tell her what happened.

“Why?” Durham asked. “There are so many rescues that would take these puppies. We stay full all the time. There’s such a problem, people don’t spay and neuter and there’s so many rescue dogs but even I would’ve been able to take them in, reached out to other rescues and worked together.”

“I honestly can’t come up with an answer as to why,” Durham said. “I myself could never do something like that, I don’t know what makes them do it. We never get to the dumpers, we only get to the ones who find them.”

The eight dogs that were rescued are currently being held at Liberty County Animal Services. Marrero said police and the Department of Agriculture were made aware of the incident.

K9 Battle Buddies is a rescue group that works to train dogs and place them with combat veterans or first responders who suffer from PTSD or Traumatic Brain Injuries.

It is our honor to rehabilitate, train, and place dogs with a Combat Veterans suffering from PTSD and/or TBI.

Our goal is to get the Veteran involved in training their dog, starting with basic obedience, and then specific training based on their individual needs. This proven method allows a closer bond between the dog and their Veteran. The Veteran is given a list of short and long-term goals for their dog, and practice what they have learned when they are home. Our volunteer trainers then test the progress of the dog and Veteran upon the return to the training class. We believe this will create a stronger bond between dog and their Veteran.

Our Mission covers three main purposes

1) We utilize rescued dogs in our program, saving the life of an animal.

2) Promote a Positive Breed Image for German Shepherds, American Staffordshire terrier’s, Staffordshire terrier’s, American Pit Bulls, American Bullies, English Bulldogs, and other molosser breeds.

3) To show the loyalty, willingness to learn, and please not only the Veteran, but to the public as well.

The late Mrs. GaPundit would undoubtedly have supported K9 Battle Buddies, as she loved dogs, military veterans and first responders, and she worked for years with the Georgia Brain and Spinal Injury Trust Fund Commission, serving Georgians who suffered from traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.

I believe the following dogs currently cared for by K9 Battle Buddies are for adoption only by combat veterans or first responders with PTSD or TBI, though I believe that they’ll allow fosters who don’t meet those criteria, and they have dogs in need of a foster home today.

Keco is a 10 month old Husky and Rottweiler mix who was an owner surrender to Long County Animal Control and is available for adoption from K9 Battle Buddies in Hinesville, GA.

Hooch is a 1.5 year old male Mastiff and Labrador Retriever mix available for adoption from K9 Battle Buddies in Hinesville, GA.

Hooch’s previous owner was incarcerated and a friend took him to prevent him from going to Animal Control. He is a good boy, loves kids and other dogs! Sadly, he has never been to the vet. His new owners only wanted to help find him a good forever and there is nothing better for him then to make him a Battle Buddy!

Allie is a three-year old female mixed breed dog who is available for adoption from K9 Battle Buddies in Hinesville, GA.

Masha is a female German Shepherd dog mix who needs an emergency foster to work with K9 Battle Buddies in Hinesville, GA.

She is a very smart girl and is crate trained, unfortunately she is fear dog aggressive. She needs a home with no other dogs.
