Tolbert promotes Fagerstrom in command shift | savannahnow.com

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department Interim Chief Julie Tolbert has made more changes to the SCMPD Command Staff.

Effective immediately Southside Precinct Captain Dean Fagerstrom has been promoted to Interim Major. This position was vacated last week when Mike Wilkins announced his retirement from the department.

Fagerstrom joined the SCMPD in 1983 and was promoted to the rank of captain in 1999. During his career he has commanded department precincts, the Criminal Investigations Division, and Internal Affairs.

Tolbert said, “I have worked with Major Fagerstrom for three decades. He is an excellent leader and is one of the most knowledgeable members of this department. He will be a tremendous asset to the SCMPD’s executive command staff.”
