Augusta, GA (WRDW)— Family and friends surround Dianne Murphy as she prepares to take the first step in her own political journey.
“To announce my intent to qualify for House District 127,” said Dianne Murphy from a podium.
“Very proud,” are the words Ronnie Brown used to describe what he thinks the late Quincy Murphy is feeling about his wife’s intent to fill his seat at the capitol.
“He was a God fearing individual himself and his family is here…Where he was raised up in the church, so I’m sure he’s smiling…. you see it’s getting me,” said Brown as his eyes filled with tears.
Before passing away four weeks ago Representative Murphy was sponsoring several legislative measures that his widow will now fight for, along with her own platform.
“She’s really passionate about public education and she wants to do what she can, to help improve public education in the state of Georgia,” said Brown.
“Someone has taken on the torch,” said long time friend and business partner, Bob O’Neal. O’Neal says he believes in Mrs. Murphy and says she’s the only one for the job.
