Political Notebook: Bibb officials go greener with hybrid vehicles | Politics | Macon.com

Bibb County officials unveiled this week four new hybrid vehicles the county purchased with grant money.

The grants are aimed at having an impact on air quality in Middle Georgia. The vehicles — 2013 Hyundai Sonata hybrids — each get 35 to 40 miles per gallon and will replace older, less fuel-efficient vehicles.

The cars have been assigned to Bibb County Commission Chairman Sam Hart, Information and Technology Director Grant Faulkner, Inspections & Fees Director Tom Buttram and District Attorney David Cooke. According to a news release, Cooke is the first district attorney in the state with a hybrid vehicle for work.
