A statewide poll to be released today shows no gaps in Gov. Nathan Deal’s armor when it comes to a certain primary challenge from Dalton Mayor David Pennington, and a possible one from state School Superintendent John Barge.
Click here for an overview and crosstabs. Public Policy Polling, a North Carolina firm with Democratic leanings, places Deal’s overall approval among likely 260 Republican voters at 66 percent, with 11 percent disapproval.
This is a subset of a larger, automated poll on U.S. Senate candidate Michelle Nunn’s possibilities, conducted Aug. 2-4, so the margin of error is rather large — +/6.1%.
The horserace:
Deal vs. Pennington: 71 to 11 percent, with 19 percent undecided;
Deal vs. Barge: 71 to 8 percent, with 21 percent undecided.
