So you know that U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston has a string of personal appearances across Georgia this week, presumably to announce his candidacy for U.S. Senate.

There’s talk coming to us – indirectly out of Washington – that he may be getting some quiet help.

This week, Kingston and Georgia’s two senators, Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss, put their signatures to a letter to the White House, criticizing President Barack Obama for failing to include substantial funding for the dredging of the Port of Savannah in his latest budget.

From the letter, via GeorgiaPundit.com:

During your Presidential campaign last July, you illustrated understanding of the outstanding benefits this project provides when you listed the Port of Savannah as one of five “We Can’t Wait” projects. We are disappointed that your support for this vital project has seemingly waned this year.

In the past, this kind of letter has been passed around the Georgia congressional delegation – at least on the GOP side — for signatures. To send a united-front message.

This one wasn’t. With U.S. Reps. Phil Gingrey and Paul Broun already in the race, that says something.
