Woodstock considers 2014 budget – The Cherokee Ledger-News: Top Stories

With a slightly higher tax digest, before appeals, the Woodstock City Council heard a more positive budget presentation than it has in years past.

The proposed $33.8 million budget includes the first raise for full-time employees in five years. No furlough days, layoffs or changes to benefits are proposed.

Chief Financial Officer Robert Porche is proposing to keep the current millage rate of 7.889 mils. One mil is equal to $1 per $1,000 of assessed value, after exemptions. Property is taxed at 40 percent of assessed value.

A homeowner whose home is valued at $200,000 could expect to pay $631.12 in city taxes for 2014.
