WASHINGTON — Michelle Nunn showed a couple of things today with a five-minute non-political speech at the national Points of Light convention in D.C.

First, the potential Democratic U.S. Senate hopeful from Atlanta appears fairly comfortable speaking from a Teleprompter in front a thousand people. It was one of Points of Light’s “Sunday supper” events, so attendees were already digging into their food. The sound of fork against plate called to mind the rubber chicken dinners Nunn will be addressing throughout the state if she decides to run.

Second, Nunn can name drop some big-time names, a reminder of the elite circles she runs in through her worldwide nonprofit. Those names would no doubt come in handy in a Senate campaign, particularly in fundraising. Nunn mentioned having “Sunday suppers” this year with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck and former Secretary of State Colin Powell.
