Last Tuesday, my Subcommittee on Horticulture, Research, Biotechnology and Foreign Agriculture held a hearing to examine the research behind bee colony health. Over the past several years, beekeepers have experienced significant losses due to colony collapse. I was able to question Dr. Jeff Pettis, Research Leader at the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service, about what is being done to prevent the Varroa Mite pest’s negative impact on honey bee health.
