The Marietta Daily Journal – Former Lake Allatoona manager Papaleoni indicted on charges of theft racketeering

The former general manager of the Lake Allatoona Preservation Authority, Ron Papaleoni, has received a nine-count indictment on charges of theft by taking, theft by deception and theft by conversion.

The Authority’s board terminated Papaleoni, who was 66 at the time, on Dec. 30, 2009.

Almost all of the Lake Allatoona Preservation Authority’s funding is supplied by state and local taxpayer revenues.

“In spite of his fiduciary obligations, accused used his position to enrich himself, his family and his associates, at the expense of LAPA,” according to the indictment, which was handed down earlier this month by a Cobb County grand jury.
