Subaru latest customer at Port of Brunswick – Atlanta Business Chronicle

Larry Strug, Subaru’s national transportation manager, said the company looked at other ports before choosing Brunswick.

“We liked what we saw,” he said. “We liked what we heard from other manufacturers.”

While the Port of Savannah is known for handling containerized cargo, Brunswick is a frequent port of choice for shipping automobiles and trucks.

“The three Colonel’s Island Ro/Ro berths and five on-terminal auto processors mean Brunswick has the capacity to quickly move roll-on/roll-off cargo,” said Robert Jepson, chairman of the Georgia Ports Authority board. “Additionally, immediate access to I-95 puts 44 percent of the U.S. population within a one- to two-day drive.”

The terminal also offers expedited delivery by rail to Atlanta; Orlando; Charlotte, N.C.; Memphis, Tenn.; and Birmingham, Ala.
